However, in New York, you generally have three years to file a lawsuit for negligence claims.
Negligence claims include car and other types of vehicular accidents, as well as slip and fall cases. Remember, if the responsible party involves a municipality, you may be required to file notice of a claim within a shorter period of time following the date of the incident. In addition, if a lawsuit has not initiated within the time required, you will lose your rights to make a claim for compensation for your injuries.
